The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) announced that the results of the recently concluded WASSCE for school candidates in 2025 will be released by Monday, August 4, 2025. According to WAEC Nigeria's Public Affairs Head, Moyosola Adesina, the marking of scripts has been completed, and candidates are urged to await the official results announcement.
Debunking Cancellation Rumors
WAEC also dismissed circulating rumors that the recently concluded exams had been canceled. The board stated that a false claim circulated on social media regarding the cancellation of exams due to widespread malpractice was untrue. "WAEC Management would like to clearly state that the spurious Press Statement circulating did not emanate from the Council. The said examination has not been canceled," the board noted.
Clarifications from the Ministry of Education
In light of WAEC's public disclaimer, the Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Federal Ministry of Education, has also rejected reports that WAEC 2025 has been canceled due to widespread exam malpractice. They emphasized that the examinations were successfully concluded, and only a few isolated incidents of malpractice were reported.
Both WAEC and the Ministry of Education have affirmed the integrity and credibility of the 2025 examinations, urging all stakeholders to disregard rumors and await official information.
