WazirX Hackers Transfer 5,000 ETH
Cyvers Alerts reported that hackers who breached the WazirX exchange in July transferred 5,000 ETH worth approximately $12 million to a new address. This transfer follows significant movements of stolen funds early Tuesday morning.
Using Tornado Cash to Mask Transactions
Data from Arkham Intelligence reveals that the hackers conducted 16 transactions into a Tornado Cash router, totaling nearly $4 million worth of ETH. Tornado Cash is known for obscuring transaction trails on blockchain networks, often used by malicious actors.
Possible Recovery of Affected Customers' Assets
Customers affected by the breach may expect to recover up to 55-57% of their lost assets following the exchange's restructuring. This was stated by WazirX representatives.
Hackers continue to use sophisticated methods to move and hide stolen funds. Meanwhile, WazirX customers may hope for partial recovery of their assets.
