Recently, there has been active discussion about the likelihood of XRP flipping Ethereum in market capitalization. Analyst Charting Guy shared his opinion, challenging common views on the topic.
Trend Change: Charting Guy's Position
Crypto analyst Charting Guy has shifted his viewpoint on the race between XRP and Ethereum (ETH) for market capitalization. In a recent post, he stated that while it previously looked like XRP might flip ETH, this is now unlikely.
"I re-entered ETH in April near the lows and it has shown immense strength since and is now just 10% away from ATH," he commented, adding that XRP's upside is limited to a maximum of 2.5x, which still wouldn't match ETH's current market cap.
Community Discussion: Suppression vs. Organic Growth
The comments section quickly turned into a heated discussion, with some defending XRP's potential while others emphasized ETH’s strength. One user, Gvtsby, argued that XRP has been artificially suppressed for years, while Ethereum has benefitted from institutional involvement.
"It's clear as day that the shackles are off the other (XRP), pending ETFs and a slew of other things going for it, which primes it for one of the greatest ROI in the history of its asset class!" he remarked.
Market Context: Current State of ETH and XRP
At the time of writing, ETH is within striking distance of its all-time high, benefiting from strong institutional interest and broader market momentum. Over the last seven days, ETH surged 27.44% to $4,734, with a market cap of $571 billion.
XRP, meanwhile, continues to navigate the aftermath of prolonged legal and regulatory challenges, with market watchers closely monitoring potential ETF approvals and new adoption drivers. During the same timeframe, XRP climbed only 7.81% to $3.23, with a market cap of $191 billion.
The likelihood of XRP flipping Ethereum in the near term remains a contentious topic. Despite Charting Guy's preference for ETH, XRP still commands strong conviction among its supporters. The future of both assets remains a critical observation point in the evolving crypto landscape.
