Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson announced a significant airdrop for XRP holders. Through this initiative, participants will receive tokens known as NIGHT from the Midnight network.
Details of the NIGHT Airdrop
Hoskinson confirmed that XRP holders will receive 5% of the total 24 billion NIGHT tokens, equating to 1.2 billion tokens. Eligibility was determined by a snapshot on June 11, capturing wallets holding at least $100 worth of XRP.
Parameters and Timing for Claiming Tokens
The claim portal officially went live on July 15, providing eligible users with a 60-day window to redeem their tokens, which ends in mid-September. Any unclaimed NIGHT tokens will be available for mining during the Scavenger Mine phase, followed by a transfer to the Midnight treasury after four years.
Distribution Structure of NIGHT Tokens
The distribution of NIGHT tokens is as follows: 50% to Cardano holders, 30% to Bitcoin holders, 5% to XRP holders, with the remaining 15% shared among Ethereum, Solana, BNB, Avalanche, and BAT. Hoskinson emphasized that this multi-chain distribution model aims to bridge siloed communities.
The largest airdrop through the NIGHT token marks an essential step towards fostering collaboration and interaction among various communities within the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
