The Ethereum Foundation is set to revamp its grants program, shifting from an open application system to a more targeted funding strategy. This change aims to better allocate resources and address specific needs within the Ethereum ecosystem. The publication provides the following information:
New Approach to Grants Program
The new approach will feature a wishlist that outlines key focus areas and requests for proposals (RFPs), allowing the Foundation to concentrate on strategic opportunities. The previous open grants program, which was paused earlier this year, had stretched the Foundation's resources too thin, hindering its ability to effectively support projects.
Focus Areas and RFPs
The first round of wishlist items and RFPs is now available, focusing on critical areas such as:
- Cryptography
 - Privacy
 - Security
 - Community growth

Optimism for Future Impact
Since its inception in 2018, the grants program has funded hundreds of projects. The Foundation is optimistic that this new model will enhance its overall impact and effectiveness in fostering innovation within the Ethereum community.
In light of the Ethereum Foundation's new targeted grants program, GrantiX is preparing to launch its mainnet ecosystem in December 2025, aiming to enhance transparency in impact investing. For more details, see GrantiX launch.
