On December 15, 2023, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) will release 100 NFTs, including tokens that will provide the opportunity to win tickets to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to available information, FIFA plans to introduce digital collectibles created in collaboration with Modex. These items will be associated with the upcoming 2023 FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place in Saudi Arabia.
The first hundred NFTs from the FIFA+ set will be released on the Algorand blockchain. In the next phase of launching digital collectibles under the federation's auspices, an additional 900 tokens will be created on the Polygon network and made available for purchase on the OpenSea marketplace.
FIFA representatives declined to comment on the transition of NFTs to a new blockchain. Initially, the federation started releasing digital collections on the Algorand blockchain, but this year they will limit the release to only the first hundred tokens on this network. All subsequent NFTs will be created on the Polygon network.
The upcoming collection will include items depicting important moments from the world of football and digital versions of iconic tournament-related memorabilia.
The FIFA Club World Cup in football will begin on December 12, 2023, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It will attract the seven best teams from around the world and determine the winner, as announced by the organizers.
