In a significant move to enhance road safety and efficiency, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has introduced a new contactless biometric system for processing drivers' licenses in Nigeria. As stated in the official source, this initiative was unveiled during the launch of the 2025 Ember Months Road Safety Campaign in Abuja.
Introduction of Contactless Biometric Capture
The new system allows applicants to complete their biometric capture without any physical contact, facilitating immediate issuance of permanent licenses. Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed highlighted that the upgraded printing facility is now capable of producing up to 15,000 licenses daily.
Aiming to Eliminate Backlogs
With the aim of eliminating existing backlogs by mid-November, this initiative is set to drastically reduce waiting times for applicants. The FRSC's efforts are expected to enhance the overall efficiency of the licensing process, making it more accessible for drivers across the country.
