Hashdex did not make it in time an application for a Bitcoin ETF

Jan 9, 2024

Fox News journalist Eleanor Terrett notes that the week started with high expectations in the world of cryptocurrencies. She reports that the official deadline for submitting applications for the creation of spot Bitcoin ETFs to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has ended. According to her, all major companies, except Hashdex, have submitted updated S-1 forms, and in the case of Grayscale Investment - an S-3 form.

Terrett asserts that if these companies do not submit an application at the last moment, they have already completed all the necessary work and are theoretically ready to launch spot Bitcoin ETFs this week. The final list of companies aspiring to create spot Bitcoin ETFs includes Grayscale, Ark/21Shares, Blackrock, BitWise, VanEck, WisdomTree, Invesco, Fidelity, Valkyrie, and Franklin Templeton.

A spot Bitcoin ETF is an investment fund that allows investors to buy and sell bitcoins at the current market price. Such ETFs will be traded on traditional exchanges and track the performance of Bitcoin. The first approval is expected to be received as early as January 10th.

Among the companies vying to create spot Bitcoin ETFs are Grayscale Investments, a leading provider of digital asset investment products; Ark/21Shares, which also offers a wide range of cryptocurrency products.

BlackRock is one of the world's largest investment companies, and Bitwise Asset Management specializes in creating cryptocurrency investment solutions. VanEck is a financial institution with a variety of ETF products. WisdomTree is a global investment company focusing on ETFs. Invesco is an international financial organization, and Fidelity Investments provides a wide range of financial services. Valkyrie Investments and Franklin Templeton are also major global companies.
