The International Energy Agency (IEA) has aligned its forecasts with the concerns expressed by Qatar's Energy Minister Saad Sherida al-Kaabi regarding the future of liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies. The agency's latest World Energy Outlook highlights a significant increase in global LNG trade over the next few decades, and the publication provides the following information:

Global LNG Trade Projections

According to the IEA's projections, global LNG trade is set to rise from 560 billion cubic meters in 2024 to 880 billion cubic meters by 2035, and further to 1,020 billion cubic meters by 2050. This anticipated growth is largely driven by increasing demand from the power sector, particularly due to the expansion of data centers and advancements in artificial intelligence.

Surge in New LNG Projects

The report emphasizes that new LNG projects are expected to experience a surge, with substantial capacity additions on the horizon. This trend reflects the growing importance of LNG in meeting global energy needs and highlights the strategic role of countries like Qatar in the evolving energy landscape.

In light of the recent insights on global LNG trade from the IEA, Russian authorities have intensified their crackdown on illegal cryptocurrency mining operations. This initiative aims to address energy shortages and regulate the mining sector more effectively. For more details, see read more.
