KuCoin comments on allegations of blocked User funds

Feb 22, 2024

The cryptocurrency exchange KuCoin has responded to accusations circulating on the social media platform Reddit regarding the freezing of users' funds. Recently, several posts have appeared on the forum from users claiming they are unable to withdraw their funds from the platform. One user stated that their assets have been frozen for four months despite providing all the necessary information requested by KuCoin. Other posts included complaints about account suspensions on allegations of involvement in fraud, token theft, and hacker attacks, as well as fund freezes without providing details or the opportunity to discuss the situation.

In response to these accusations, KuCoin representative, Eden Gao, stated that the exchange is actively working to address the reported issues. Gao emphasized that KuCoin does not freeze user accounts unjustifiably or restrict their access to their own assets. He also mentioned the implementation of a comprehensive risk control system to enhance user security and cooperation with law enforcement agencies worldwide.

The KuCoin representative acknowledged that due to the large number of users (31 million globally), individual cases of failures may occur, but assured that the support team is actively working to resolve them, including through publicly accessible communication platforms such as X, Telegram, and Reddit.

This incident has sparked discussions among Reddit users and speculation regarding possible reasons for the issues, including assumptions about connections to Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures and advice to users to consider transitioning to other platforms to avoid similar issues with digital assets.
