Lagos State University (LASU) has implemented new regulations for cinematographic activities on its campuses in response to a recent prank incident that alarmed students. As stated in the official source, the university's management aims to ensure safety and uphold its values through these new guidelines.

Announcement from LASU's Centre for Information and Public Relations

In a press statement released on Friday night, Oluwayemis A. Thomas-Onashile, the Deputy Registrar and Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations, announced that all students and individuals wishing to engage in cinematographic activities must obtain prior approval from the Centre. This requirement applies to shooting videos, skits, and other audiovisual materials on university premises.

Management's Decision Following Viral Prank Video

The management's decision comes after LASU condemned a viral prank video that caused panic among students, highlighting the need to prevent unauthorized use of its facilities for content that misrepresents the university's values. Furthermore, the use of drones on campus will also necessitate approval from the Security Department to ensure safety and privacy, reinforcing LASU's commitment to maintaining a secure and respectful learning environment.

Recently, Lagos State University introduced new regulations for cinematographic activities following a prank incident. In contrast, TikTok has implemented restrictions on nighttime live streaming in Nigeria, aiming to enhance user safety. For more details, see read more.
