Lido has made a significant move towards enhancing its governance structure by successfully passing Onchain Vote 214. This new initiative introduces a Dual Governance system that empowers stETH holders, allowing them to have a greater say in the protocol's decision-making processes. The publication provides the following information: this change is expected to improve community engagement and streamline governance operations.
New Framework for stETH Holders
The newly implemented framework enables stETH holders to contest or delay specific governance actions, effectively bridging the gap between LDO token holders and those who are economically impacted by the staking protocol. This change is expected to create a more inclusive governance environment within the Lido ecosystem.
Support for the Proposal
The vote garnered substantial support, with 582 million LDO tokens backing the proposal. Additionally, the governance delay window for emergency actions has been extended to 14 days, giving stakeholders ample time to react to any disputed decisions. While LDO continues to serve as the primary governance token, this development marks a pivotal shift in the governance landscape, significantly elevating the influence of stETH holders in key decisions.
Recently, Lido DAO executed Vote 206, focusing on operational adjustments that complement the recent governance changes from Vote 214. For more details, see the full article here.
