Milady founder reports a hacker attack and a $3 million loss

Mar 20, 2024

A scandal erupted in the cryptocurrency community after Krishna Ohandiar, the creator of Remilia and the Milady NFT collection, announced on Twitter a large-scale hacker attack. As a result of the attack, assets worth over $3 million, including ETH and NFTs stored in the project's treasury, were lost. Ohandiar blamed the incident on malicious software that, according to him, was able to steal key phrases from his password manager and gain unauthorized access to his wallets.

The Milady project, known for its collection of 10,000 unique anime tokens on Ethereum, gained widespread fame, including approval from Elon Musk. However, after the hacker attack, doubts arose in the community about the credibility of Ohandiar's claims, especially after Dumpster DAO discovered suspicious transactions indicating possible depletion of project funds.

Transaction analysis showed that the stolen assets were transferred to a wallet from which they were quickly exchanged, netting the criminals about 850 ETH. This incident highlighted the problem of storing confidential data in online password managers and underscored the need for stronger security measures to protect digital assets.

The event sparked discussion in the crypto community about the importance of strengthening digital security and finding ways to compensate losses for those affected by hacker attacks.
