MixMob has announced a significant milestone in the blockchain gaming industry by successfully acquiring licensing rights for the original Stormtroopers from "Star Wars: A New Hope" for use in its game Racer 1 and future projects. This marks the company's first intellectual property license, paving the way for iconic characters to enter the world of blockchain gaming. It is planned that the playable NFT Stormtrooper will be released alongside the mobile version of the card-based strategic game in the second quarter of 2024.

The license will enable the studio to create NFTs based on the original Stormtrooper, providing players with a unique opportunity to own a part of the iconic "Star Wars" universe. The deal was made with Shepperton Design Studios and Andrew Ainsworth, the designer of the famous original Stormtrooper helmet, with the use of "Star Wars" branding not permitted as Disney and Lucasfilm are not involved in this licensing agreement.

The addition of the original Stormtrooper to the game is not just seen as adding a character, but as an innovation that gives players true digital ownership through NFTs, ensuring authenticity and uniqueness. These Stormtrooper NFTs will represent a new hope in the gaming world, where players have real stakes, gameplay, and ownership.

Simon Vieira, CEO of MixMob, expressed his excitement about integrating the original Stormtrooper, noting that it fulfills the dreams of many game developers worldwide. He anticipates that players will unite in teams and factions under the banner of the Stormtrooper, competing with each other in Turbo Arenas.

This first intellectual property license marks the beginning of the company's official licensing strategy, with plans to acquire three more licenses within this year. The experience of MixMob's co-founders in obtaining licenses from companies such as DreamWorks, Warner Bros Kids, and Peanuts will contribute to future collaborations and development efforts.
