Nvidia is under increasing pressure to boost production of its H200 chips due to overwhelming demand from major Chinese tech companies. According to the official information, with orders surpassing 2 million units, the company is working closely with its foundry partner, TSMC, to meet this challenge.
Nvidia's H200 Units Availability
Currently, Nvidia has only 700,000 H200 units available, prompting the company to expedite production plans. The anticipated increase in output is expected to commence by the second quarter of 2026, as Nvidia seeks to balance the needs of its Chinese clients with those from other regions.
Concerns Over Global AI Chip Supply Chain
This surge in demand raises concerns about potential strain on the global AI chip supply chain. Complicating matters further, Chinese regulators have yet to approve the import of these chips, even after the U.S. lifted its export ban.
Pricing and Variants for the Chinese Market
Nvidia has set the price for the H200 chips at approximately $27,000 each and plans to offer:

Projected Shipment Timeline
The first shipments are projected to reach customers before the Lunar New Year holiday in mid-February, with additional supplies expected to follow as TSMC ramps up production capabilities.
In a recent initiative, the Chinese government has increased funding for consumer protection programs to stimulate economic growth, contrasting with the tech industry's focus on chip production. For more details, see consumer protection.
