A recent report from Scam Sniffer, a Web3 security tool, reveals a significant decline in losses due to phishing scams, indicating a growing awareness among investors regarding online threats. According to the official information, the data highlights a positive trend in the fight against cybercrime in the cryptocurrency space.
Significant Decrease in Phishing Scam Losses
In 2025, losses attributed to phishing scams plummeted by 83% year-over-year, totaling $833 million, a stark contrast to the $494 million reported in 2024. This dramatic decrease suggests that investors are becoming increasingly savvy about recognizing and avoiding phishing attempts.
Reduction in Victims of Phishing Scams
Additionally, the number of victims of these scams has also seen a notable reduction, dropping by 68% from 332,000 in 2024 to just 106,000 in 2025. Despite this overall decline, the report notes that losses peaked during the third quarter of the year, coinciding with the market's most active trading period, highlighting the ongoing risks that still exist in the crypto landscape.
