In a significant move to protect its users, Pi Network has temporarily suspended wallet payment requests due to a rise in scam incidents. According to the experts cited in the publication, the situation is becoming critical as numerous reports of scammers exploiting the platform's features to steal PI tokens from unsuspecting users have emerged.
Warning from the Pi Core Team
The Pi Core Team issued a warning on December 30, 2025, clarifying that the scams were not a result of any protocol flaw but rather stemmed from users approving transactions without proper verification. Scammers have been impersonating trusted contacts, leading to unauthorized transfers of PI tokens.
Measures to Mitigate Losses
To mitigate further losses, the team has decided to disable the payment request feature while they assess and implement additional security measures. Users are strongly advised to reject all payment requests, regardless of the sender's identity, to safeguard their assets during this period of heightened risk.
In light of recent security concerns, Pi Network has suspended wallet payment requests, while Upbit has announced a temporary halt on Ethereum network services. For more details, see the full announcement here.
