Proof of Play recently announced the launch of Multichain, a network consisting of multiple blockchains built on top of Arbitrum and designed for fully online games and decentralized applications (dapps). This network is described as an "ultra-fast constellation of blockchains" utilizing Ethereum scaling technology, Arbitrum Orbit, to ensure its operation.

Initially, Multichain will support the game Pirate Nation, which is transitioning from Polygon to Arbitrum. However, Proof of Play plans to open Multichain to other game developers and dapps, thereby expanding the Arbitrum gaming ecosystem.

Amitt Mahajan, co-founder and CEO of Proof of Play, stated that their goal is to streamline the process of creating online games for anyone who wants to work with their technologies and have the necessary infrastructure support.

The launch of Multichain is scheduled for the near future, with the game Pirate Nation becoming the first project launched on the Apex network, which is part of Multichain. The gameplay of Pirate Nation will be entirely conducted on Multichain, although the NFTs of the game's founders will remain on the Ethereum mainnet.

The choice of Arbitrum technology for Proof of Play was driven by increasing costs associated with supporting their online game due to network fees. Arbitrum technology allows games to function entirely online without unnecessary delays, making it an ideal choice for realizing Proof of Play's vision of creating fully online games that match the speed and scale of their offline counterparts.

Pirate Nation will introduce new features such as real-time PVP battles and attract users from other platforms.

Proof of Play raised $33 million in funding last September in a round jointly led by Andreessen Horowitz and Greenoaks Capital. The game joins other projects using Arbitrum for gaming networks. The launch coincides with ApeCoin DAO's decision to launch a layer 3 network "ApeChain" on Arbitrum, as well as Treasure's plans to upgrade its Treasure Chain and the recent debut of the Xai gaming network on Arbitrum level 3 with an airdrop of tokens to early participants.
