In a cautionary tale highlighting the risks of online investments, a 35-year-old medical representative from Rajkot, Gujarat, fell victim to a crypto scam, losing an astonishing 3.15 crore. According to the authors of the publication, it is concerning that the incident underscores the dangers of engaging with strangers on social media platforms.

Introduction to the Scam

Hardik Umraniya initially connected with the scammer through a Facebook friend request, where conversations began innocently. The stranger soon persuaded Hardik to invest in USDT, promising lucrative returns that piqued his interest. After a modest initial investment of 10,000, Hardik was thrilled to see a quick return of 12,500, which encouraged him to invest even more.

Escalation of Investments

Between July 20 and 31, 2025, Hardik transferred a staggering total of 3.15 crore across 13 transactions, believing he was on the path to financial success. However, his hopes were dashed when he attempted to withdraw his funds and was confronted with a demand for a security verification fee of 15,000. This revelation confirmed that he had fallen victim to a sophisticated scam.

Taking Action

Realizing he had been deceived, Hardik took immediate action by reporting the incident to the cybercrime police, hoping to prevent others from experiencing a similar fate. His story serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers lurking in the world of online investments.
