Ripple: Major US Retailers to Accept Cryptocurrency in 2024

Dec 25, 2023

Ripple, a company specializing in blockchain solutions, predicts that in 2024, major US retailers will start accepting cryptocurrency as a means of payment. This opinion was expressed by Rob Grant, the company's Vice President of Global Policy.

On the eve of the new year, there is optimism in the cryptocurrency market, especially in light of the expected launch of spot Bitcoin ETFs in the coming months. Many experts consider 2024 to be a pivotal year for the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies.

Grant is confident that next year, major American retailers will begin to accept cryptocurrency payments, marking a significant step towards their widespread implementation. He notes that this will allow cryptocurrencies to transition from speculative assets to practical payment methods.

However, Grant did not specify which retailers plan to implement cryptocurrency payments and whether XRP, the cryptocurrency supported by Ripple, will be involved in this process. It is known that Ripple's main product is aimed at simplifying global payments using XRP, which could contribute to its wider adoption.

Grant also predicts that in 2024, digital currencies backed by central banks (CBDCs) will emerge. He believes that the G7 countries, including the USA, the UK, Canada, Italy, France, Germany, Japan, and the EU, will introduce their CBDCs, opening a new era of state-supported currencies. Many central banks around the world are already experimenting with this technology, some in collaboration with Ripple.
