The chatbot is powered by a ChatGPT model that has been exclusively trained on public writings of Satoshi Nakamoto and a few select Bitcoin-related source materials.
Even though Satoshi Nakamoto vanished more than 12 years ago, two AI enthusiasts are now attempting to bring back the opportunity to converse with the renowned Bitcoin creator.
On May 31, Pierre Corbin, co-organizer of Bitcoin FilmFest, and Hugo Ferrer, co-developer, launched "Talk2Satoshi," an AI chatbot designed to respond to inquiries about Bitcoin and economics as if they were coming directly from Nakamoto.
The underlying model is based on OpenAI's ChatGPT and has been trained on a specific dataset, comprising public emails and forum posts attributed to Nakamoto. It also incorporates information from various sources, such as Saifedean Ammous' book "The Bitcoin Standard," Jeff Booth's book "The Price of Tomorrow," and Corbin's film "The Great Reset and the Rise of Bitcoin," while additional sources are being added.
During testing, the chatbot produces responses that generally express uncertainty about the future of fiat currencies while showing optimism towards Bitcoin. However, it's important to note that the chatbot's answers may vary and even contradict each other depending on the specific prompts it receives.
As an illustration, when presented with different versions of the question "What does the future hold for Bitcoin?", the chatbot generated divergent responses, with one expressing a positive outlook and another expressing uncertainty.
It's important to note that the model has not been trained on the latest developments in the Bitcoin ecosystem, such as the Ordinals protocol or BRC-20 tokens. Consequently, it may respond with an inability to provide an opinion on these specific topics. However, depending on the question posed, the chatbot may generate conflicting responses regarding Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens.
When queried about Ordinals, the chatbot delivered contrasting responses. In one instance, it stated that Bitcoin is not designed to function as a platform for storing or transmitting images or other forms of data. However, in another response, it described Ordinals as a captivating and innovative utilization of cryptography.
Corbin emphasizes that the aim of the chatbot is to demonstrate the potential use of AI tools in the field of education.
The model exhibits proficiency in generating informative responses to inquiries related to Bitcoin, including topics like its functioning, the process of mining, and even explaining specific aspects of the network such as satoshis.
