Dec 24, 2023

On December 24th, the cryptocurrency Solana (SOL) reached a new annual high, surpassing the $115 mark for the first time since April 2022. In the last 24 hours, the value of Solana increased by 19%, as reported by CoinGecko. Currently, Solana is trading around $114, with a market capitalization of $48.5 billion, and the trading volume of SOL token has reached $5.7 billion.

All major digital assets in the top 10 by capitalization have also moved into the "green zone." Besides Solana, significant growth over the past week was shown by Avalanche (up 12.8%) and BNB (up 12%). On December 20th, Solana surpassed XRP in market capitalization, taking fifth place, and on December 22nd, its market value exceeded that of BNB, allowing the project to rise to fourth place.

Former BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes revealed that he sold the SOL he bought in November and invested the profits in Ethereum, anticipating its rise to $5000. He admitted that he was wrong again, expecting a price drop.

The growth of Solana is attributed to increased network activity, a new wave of meme tokens led by BONK, and numerous announced airdrops. From October to December, the number of Google search queries for "Solana" also reached maximum values.
