The ATP Tennis Tour is providing customizable 2023 Finals posters through an NFT drop

Nov 2, 2023

The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) has joined forces with the digital art platform Artchild to introduce customizable digital and physical tennis posters for the 2023 Nitto ATP Finals, taking place later this month in Turin, Italy.

The central poster for the event will be crafted by Honor Titus, an artist based in Los Angeles renowned for his tennis-themed artworks. Titus expressed his enthusiasm for tennis as an artistic subject, citing its rich history and elegant nuances.

Fans will have the opportunity to personalize their own versions of the official Nitto ATP Finals poster on Artchild's digital platform, utilizing color palettes curated by the artist. These customized posters will be printed and delivered to buyers, accompanied by an NFT collectible created on Polygon, an Ethereum scaling network.

A selection of fan-designed poster variations will be exhibited at the Pala Alpitour arena during the tournament. Titus' original poster will be exclusively available throughout the 2023 finals and will be priced at $50, inclusive of shipping costs, covering both the NFT and physical print. It will be accessible for purchase online and at the Nitto ATP Finals fan village.

Furthermore, singles players participating in the Nitto ATP Finals will produce unique editions of the poster to be auctioned for charitable purposes during the event. The proceeds from these auctions will contribute to an environmental initiative focused on enhancing green spaces in Turin, the host city of the tournament.

The ATP emphasized that this collaboration builds upon a longstanding tradition of iconic sporting posters cherished by generations of fans. Mark Epps, the ATP's Director of Communications and Web, stated that the organization drew inspiration from reimagining one of tennis culture's most iconic collectibles: the tournament poster.

It's worth noting that this isn't the ATP's initial venture into the realm of NFTs. In the previous November, the league partnered with the generative art platform Art Blocks in collaboration with artist Martin Grasser to introduce the "Love" digital art series, which was based on match data from the 2022 Finals. Owners of these "Love" NFT pieces have the opportunity to claim one of the customizable 2023 posters at no additional cost.
