Pulse Arena is a Web3 platform for competitive gaming events developed by Mythical Games, enabling short tournaments and Challenges to be organized on top of existing games. Rather than functioning as a standalone blockchain game, Pulse Arena acts as an additional competitive layer: results are received from game servers, participants are ranked on leaderboards, and some rewards are distributed through smart contracts. The beta version of the platform launched in December 2025 with Pudgy Party as its first supported game and PENGU as the token used for paid competitions. The project is part of the broader Pulse infrastructure that Mythical Games is developing for digital item trading, competitive events, and user interaction with Web3 assets.

1. What Is Pulse Arena and How the Mythical Games Platform Works

Pulse Arena was introduced by Mythical Games in late 2025 as a web-based platform for organizing competitions across the company's gaming ecosystem. The beta version opened on December 22. Rather than creating a separate game world, its purpose is to provide shared infrastructure through which users can participate in tournaments for supported games and receive rewards based on their performance.

The platform's main format is Challenges — competitions that take place within a defined time window. A player joins a selected event, launches the supported game and completes the tournament objectives. Pulse Arena receives the required performance data directly from trusted game servers and uses it to build participant rankings without requiring players to manually upload screenshots or other proof of their results.

The first integrated title was Pudgy Party, a multiplayer mobile game developed by Mythical Games in collaboration with Pudgy Penguins. During the initial beta phase, the game was used to test the tournament model, leaderboard system and PENGU-based payouts. To participate, a player's Pudgy Party account is linked to their Mythical account and Pulse Arena profile.

Arena itself operates as a web application and does not require a separate client installation. Users can browse available Challenges without signing in, while full participation requires creating a profile through email, social login or a cryptocurrency wallet. This structure separates the competitive infrastructure from an individual game and makes it possible to integrate additional titles into the platform over time.

2. Challenges and Tournaments: How Pulse Arena Gameplay Works

Pulse Arena uses a model based on short competitive sessions and leaderboards. Each Challenge has its own rules, duration, participation requirements and reward structure. Users can join a competition before it begins or during its active phase when permitted by the rules of a particular event.

During the beta period, both free and paid Challenges are supported. Free competitions do not require an entry fee. In paid events, users contribute a specified amount of PENGU, while collected entry fees together with any potential sponsor contribution form the prize pool. Information about entry costs and potential rewards is displayed before participation is confirmed.

Results are calculated using data supplied by the game itself. In the case of Pudgy Party, the system can track performance metrics specified by the rules of a particular tournament and use them to rank participants on a leaderboard. Data is updated after matches or rounds, meaning a player's position can change throughout the duration of the Challenge.

Once a competition ends, the results go through a short verification period. Winners are then finalized and payouts are calculated. This hybrid architecture keeps high-frequency gameplay logic off-chain while using Web3 infrastructure for operations where transparent rules, prize-pool management and digital reward distribution are particularly relevant.

3. Pulse Arena Web3 Economy: PENGU, Abstract and Smart Contracts

Pulse Arena's initial economic integration is built around PENGU and the Abstract network. In paid Pudgy Party Challenges, PENGU is used for entry fees and prize payouts. Users also need a small amount of ETH on Abstract to cover gas fees for blockchain transactions.

However, owning an external cryptocurrency wallet is not required to start exploring the platform. Pulse can automatically create an embedded non-custodial EVM wallet during registration. The beta version also supports Abstract Global Wallet and provides an option to connect MetaMask manually.

Component Purpose Use in Pulse Arena
Pulse Arena Competitive platform Challenges, tournaments, leaderboards and digital rewards
Pudgy Party First supported game Provides gameplay results for beta competitions
PENGU Token Entry fees and prizes in paid Challenges
Abstract EVM-compatible blockchain network On-chain transactions, PENGU transfers and settlement
Smart Contracts Settlement infrastructure Final Challenge settlement and reward claiming
Pulse Wallet Embedded non-custodial wallet User interaction with Arena's Web3 functionality

The system intentionally separates gameplay from the blockchain layer. Performance calculations take place off-chain using information from trusted game servers, because recording every in-game action on-chain would introduce additional costs and latency. Once a Challenge is completed, the finalized results can be used for on-chain settlement through smart contracts.

Prize funds can be held through an escrow mechanism until a competition is completed, after which eligible winners gain access to their rewards. Rewards must be claimed manually from the completed Challenge page. This structure demonstrates a hybrid approach in which blockchain technology primarily supports the economic layer of a competition rather than processing the gameplay itself.

4. Platform Features for Players, Creators and Partners

Pulse Arena is designed not only for regular players. Its broader concept includes the ability for content creators, partners and other operators to organize competitions. This turns the platform into an infrastructure layer through which gaming communities can potentially host their own tournaments without building separate leaderboard and payout systems from scratch.

During the beta phase, Challenge creation is available only to a limited number of approved users and operators. Similar restrictions apply to creator-hosted events. These limitations reflect the early stage of the product, as Mythical Games gradually tests leaderboards, game integrations and economic mechanisms before expanding access.

Key Features of Pulse Arena:

  • web-based platform without a separate gaming client;
  • short skill-based Challenges and tournaments;
  • free and paid competition formats;
  • automatic retrieval of results from game servers;
  • leaderboards updated throughout competitions;
  • PENGU integration for paid Pudgy Party Challenges;
  • smart contract settlement on the Abstract network;
  • automatic creation of a non-custodial EVM wallet;
  • support for competitions hosted by creators and partners;
  • architecture designed to integrate additional games.

An important distinction is that Pulse Arena does not require an entire game's logic to be moved onto a blockchain. Users continue playing through the regular client of a supported title, while Arena operates alongside it and receives the required performance metrics from the game's server infrastructure. This approach makes it possible to add a competitive Web3 layer to existing games without completely rebuilding their underlying game engines.

At the same time, participation in paid Challenges involves financial risk. Paying an entry fee does not guarantee a reward, as the final outcome depends on player performance and the prize distribution rules. Paid competitions should therefore be distinguished from conventional Play-to-Earn models, where users may receive rewards for repetitive activities without directly competing for a shared prize pool.

5. Pulse Arena and the Development of Competitive Web3 Gaming

Pulse Arena is part of Mythical Games' broader strategy for building infrastructure around digital gaming assets. In parallel, the company is developing Pulse Market, a marketplace to which assets from Pudgy Party, Blankos, Rivals, Nitro Nation and FIFA Rivals were being migrated in 2026. Within this architecture, Market focuses on trading digital game items, while Arena develops the competitive segment of the ecosystem.

This approach differs from the traditional GameFi model, in which a token and gaming economy are usually developed within a single project. Pulse Arena is designed as a more universal layer capable of supporting multiple games. As a result, tournament infrastructure and digital payouts can be separated from any individual gaming product.

At launch, the platform's functionality remained limited: Pudgy Party was the first and initially the only supported game, Challenge creation was restricted to approved operators, and NFT rewards were not yet available in the early beta version. Mythical Games nevertheless indicated plans to expand the number of integrated games and develop additional functionality based on testing results and user feedback.

Pulse Arena demonstrates one possible direction for Web3 gaming in which blockchain technology is not used as the foundation for every in-game action but instead serves as settlement infrastructure for competitions, prize pools and digital rewards. The model combines traditional server-based gameplay with on-chain settlement and user-oriented tournaments. Its future role within the Mythical ecosystem will depend on the integration of additional games, participation from tournament organizers, wallet usability and the platform's ability to generate sustainable demand for skill-based Web3 Challenges.
