Yogi concept
Yogi turns the concept of an index fund upside down. Instead of paying portfolio managers to rebalance your portfolio, a commission is collected from traders. Traders rebalance the portfolio by following arbitrage opportunities.
It is a generalization of the constant product formula, described by Vitalik Buterin and proven by the popular Uniswap application."[/su_quote]
Yogi — a protocol for automated marketing, using multiple tokens. This allows portfolio owners to create pools and traders to trade against them. Pools contain two or more tokens, each with an independent weight, representing its share of the total value of the pool. They provide liquidity to the protocol and charge traders to access it. Pools can be considered automated market makers since anyone can swap any two tokens in any pool.
There are two categories of users who benefit from the Yogi protocol:
| Liquidity providers | They own Yogi pools or participate in shared pools |
| Traders | They buy or sell the assets of the underlying pool on the open market. |
This allows portfolio owners to create pools of yogis and traders to trade against them.
Liquidity providers
Anyone can be a liquidity provider. For example: portfolio managers who want controlled access to various assets without complicated and costly rebalancing. Or investors who have ERC20 tokens and are messing around in their wallet and would like to make them work by earning passive income from commissions.
Traders can choose from a diverse set of pools. Each set represents a unique investment opportunity due to its specific configuration of tokens, weights and fees. The interaction between these settings, pool size and external prices generates market forces. They encourage traders to maintain a stable token ratio while preserving asset values for liquidity providers.
There are three main categories:
- Retail traders, looking to exchange low slippage tokens at favorable rates;
- Arbitrageurs, seeking profit by balancing market inefficiencies between DEX or CE;
- BSC smart contracts seek liquidity for various reasons such as liquidating positions under other protocols, trading on behalf of users, etc.
Pools can be considered automated market makers. And any of this category can swap any two tokens in any pool.
