According to Arkham Intelligence, Tesla, one of the leading manufacturers of electric vehicles in the world, has started investing in bitcoin again. This caused widespread discussion in the cryptocurrency community, as Tesla had previously sold a significant portion of its bitcoins and refused to accept payments in BTC.

According to information from Arkham Intelligence, the company has added a tracking feature for Tesla's bitcoin wallet, which allows you to see how much cryptocurrency the company has on its balance sheet. At the time of writing, there were 11,509 BTC in the Tesla wallet, which is 1,789 more than in the last earnings report for the fourth quarter of 2023.

This may indicate that Tesla has begun to purchase bitcoins covertly and may reveal this during the next financial report, which is expected at the end of April 2024.

In February 2021, Tesla invested $1.5 billion in bitcoin for the first time, just before the peak of the previous bull market, and announced plans to accept payments in BTC for its cars. However, the company quickly changed its mind, selling about 10% of its assets in March 2021. In the second quarter of 2022, Tesla sold approximately 75% of its bitcoins, voicing concerns about the environmental impact of mining.

In addition, SpaceX, the company founded by Elon Musk, is also holding bitcoins on its balance sheet after Michael Saylor, co-founder and executive chairman of MicroStrategy, convinced Musk to add bitcoin to his company's balance sheet. MicroStrategy owns 193,000 BTC, making it the largest institutional holder of BTC in the world.

Representatives of Tesla and Musk have not yet commented on whether the company is acquiring bitcoins or not. If this is confirmed, it could be a signal for other large companies and investors to follow their example and invest in bitcoin.
