Prometheum, the only platform authorized to work with tokenized securities in the United States, has announced that Ethereum (ETH) will be the first virtual asset they will start working with.

A company representative called ETH "the first security representing a digital asset that their institutional investors will have access to."

"We want to be able to serve the altcoin with the largest market capitalization and the most liquid token. First it will be Ethereum, then there should be many others," said Prometheum co-founder Aaron Kaplan.

After ETH was proclaimed a "security representing a digital asset," supporters of cryptocurrencies began to discuss the consequences of this status in the eyes of American regulators.

A blockchain detective under the pseudonym Mr. Huber joked that even Ethereum maximalists do not believe their eyes, noting that Ethereum became the first ecosystem in the cryptosphere whose ICO status was not disputed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

ETH became the first asset to be included in the list of tokenized securities that comply with SEC requirements, according to Mr. Huber.

Some members of the crypto community expressed sarcasm about the SEC's actions, saying that the organization is corrupt, and the phrase "a security representing a digital asset" is missing from current American legislation.

Stephen Mizrahi, a user of the social network X, expressed doubts about the positive consequences for ETH, suggesting that such recognition could cause additional problems if sufficient information about it as a security was not provided during the ICO.
