Aavegotchi designates Base as the settlement layer for Gotchichain

Mar 22, 2024

Aavegotchi has selected the EVM-compatible Layer 2 Base as the foundation for settlements on Gotchichain, a new gaming Layer 3 rollup, with its launch planned for the second quarter of 2024. This decision was made by the Pixelcraft Studios team behind the NFT gaming protocol Aavegotchi, due to Base offering an affordable, secure, and developer-friendly way to build blockchain games while maintaining a close connection to Ethereum.

Pixelcraft Studios' CEO, known as Coderdan, emphasized the importance of collaborating with the Base team to explore new possibilities in the blockchain gaming sphere. He expressed confidence that Gotchichain and the Base infrastructure will provide a unique gaming experience on the blockchain. As part of the partnership, the studio also plans to utilize the Optimism Stack to enhance its gaming Layer 3, aiming to create a unified ecosystem of scaling solutions.

Jesse Pollak, the founder of Base, expressed support for innovative projects that enable users to transition to blockchain and offer new experiences. He noted that Gotchichain will contribute to changing player interaction and engagement in the blockchain gaming world through scaling capabilities and reduced transaction costs provided by L2.

Gotchichain, expected to launch in the second quarter of 2024, will support the Aavegotchi gaming console. This platform is designed to store data such as assets, player profiles, and game progress on the blockchain, ensuring security and cross-game compatibility. A feature will be blockchain-based profile badges that reward players for achieving gaming goals and allow other developers to use them in their games to create progression systems.
