An anonymous network participant paid 1.5 BTC (approximately $66,000 at the current exchange rate) for data encryption on the Bitcoin network via Bitcoin. Experts from the Ord.io platform noticed unusual transactions.
Experts shared information that an unidentified user executed 332 transactions to encrypt 8.93 Megabytes of data. The average transaction fee was $200.
It is reported that the Ordinals protocol was used to store this information. Initially, this protocol was developed for storing digital art in the Bitcoin network, but it is also capable of storing various types of data, including encrypted text.
It is still unknown who performed this encoding and for what purpose. No user or organization has made any claims regarding this data.
Recall that in early January, an unidentified user sent 26.9 BTC to the Genesis network wallet - the first address created in the Bitcoin network. Conor Grogan, the director of the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, speculated that this activity in the network "may be related to Satoshi Nakamoto or someone who accidentally destroyed millions of dollars."
It should be noted that in November 2023, large Bitcoin holders moved 6,500 BTC from three addresses after six years of inactivity. Approximately a month later, another significant Bitcoin holder transferred 1,000 BTC to various wallets.
