Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, has spoken about the decline in activity on the SocialFi project friend.tech, comparing it to blockchain games. He emphasized that such projects should not rely on speculative motives for their development and popularization.
In his view, it's important for blockchain games to be interesting and engaging, rather than just a means for financial speculation. Buterin also expressed confidence that platforms like Lens Protocol and Farcaster will not lose their relevance in the next 4 months or a year.
Haseeb Qureshi, Managing Partner at Dragonfly Capital, supported Buterin's opinion regarding Lens Protocol and Farcaster, but also noted that the concept of SocialFi projects based on financial speculation should not be completely abandoned. In his opinion, many ideas require multiple attempts to achieve success.
It was noted that activity on friend.tech has decreased by 95% compared to its peak in September 2023. Experts suggest that one of the main reasons for this decline could be inefficient management and execution of tasks by the project team.
