The Coinbase campaign focuses on how converting dollars to blockchain can facilitate the use of billions of pennies, thus advancing the financial system and eliminating outdated paper money. According to the company, pennies worth $1.2 million are lost annually, and their production cost significantly exceeds their face value.

During a discussion on the X Spaces platform, Austin Campbell from Zero Knowledge Consulting highlighted that stablecoins could offer merchants and small businesses the benefits of instant settlements and payment savings. This is particularly important for businesses operating with small profit margins, for whom every penny counts.

The Coinbase commercial features an animated Abraham Lincoln calling for the digitization of pennies, highlighting their current inefficiency and loss of significance. Although the US Mint will continue to mint coins in 2024, the campaign questions the necessity of such efforts in light of the opportunities offered by blockchain.
