Recently, one of the collectible CryptoPunks was sold for 205 Ethereum (ETH), which is approximately $507,617. This sale occurred amidst a notable increase in global non-fungible token (NFT) sales, which grew by 17.72% in the last 24 hours. The total NFT sales volume in the market during this period reached $38.28 million, with CryptoPunk becoming the largest single NFT sale in the past 24 hours and month.
CryptoPunk #6940 was sold yesterday at 14:11 (UTC), as indicated by Etherscan data. This NFT was minted in December 2017 for $128, and its value has significantly increased over the past six years. The previous sale of this same NFT took place in April 2023 for 215 ETH, which was equivalent to $397,924 at the time. Well-known NFT collector Atscrypto held this item for eight months before its recent sale.
Despite this significant transaction, the sales volume of the CryptoPunks collection in the last 24 hours decreased by 22% to $3.17 million. However, the global NFT sales volume has increased significantly, with a total of 325,804 transactions.
This latest sale comes over two months after another CryptoPunk was sold for 600 ETH ($1.14 million at the time). These events indicate a resurgence of interest in digital collectibles despite the overall market downturn in recent weeks. Institutional interest in NFTs is also on the rise, with CoinGecko noting that 21 out of the top 50 global fashion brands are now involved in NFT projects.
