Expo 2025, a highly anticipated global event scheduled for April to October 2025 in Osaka, Japan, has announced its plans to launch official non-fungible tokens (NFTs) using the XRP Ledger. This initiative is being supported by one of Ripple's prominent Asian partners.
The forthcoming Expo 2025 in Osaka is gearing up to introduce its official NFT collection, known as "Myakuun," on the XRP Ledger. These NFTs are expected to captivate millions of visitors from around the world who will attend the event, as revealed by Emi Yoshikawa, the Vice President of Ripple, through her X account.
In a collaborative effort, SBI VC Trade and SBI NFT, both subsidiaries of the prominent Asian digital economy player SBI Holdings, are jointly responsible for the upcoming NFT release. These tokens are set to be unveiled in May 2024, a year in advance of the grand opening ceremony for Expo 2025 in Osaka.
Anticipating a staggering turnout of over 28.2 million guests at the event in Japan, "Myakuun" NFTs are poised to play an integral role in the exhibition's activities and programs. Expo 2025 attendees will have the opportunity to acquire NFTs by visiting specific venues within the event and by accomplishing missions presented by its partners.
Emi Yoshikawa, Vice President of Ripple, expresses great enthusiasm about the potential of this innovative NFT collection and the unique experiences it will offer to participants at Expo 2025:
As previously reported by U.Today, the XRP Ledger has emerged as one of the rapidly growing platforms for non-fungible tokens (NFTs). During the third quarter of 2023, the NFT ecosystem on this platform witnessed substantial double-digit growth.
Yahoo Japan has announced that a special limited edition drop of Myaku Myaku NFTs will be made available to all attendees at the live opening ceremony.
Additionally, SBI Holdings, a long-standing partner of Ripple, will support the development and launch of the official cryptocurrency wallet for the exhibition. Similar to NFTs, this wallet will seamlessly integrate into the event's overall program.
As of now, XRP Ledger boasts over 3,300 NFT collections, with enthusiasts on the platform having issued more than two million NFTs in total, according to data from XPMarket.
