Development of the EVM Sidechain for XRP Ledger

Jan 25, 2024

Peersyst Technology, a blockchain development company, in collaboration with Ripple developers, has announced the latest progress in the development of the EVM sidechain for XRP Ledger (XRPL). They reported that the development of XChainBridge is in its final stages and is expected to be launched soon.

Compatibility with EVM is a key aspect for many blockchain protocols, especially considering Ethereum's status as the largest liquidity hub for DeFi. Before XRPL, other major networks including Solana, Fantom, and Cardano had already integrated EVM compatibility.

Peersyst Technology emphasized that the adoption of the public amendment XChainBridge, proposed by Ripple developers, is necessary for the launch of the EVM sidechain. Currently, this amendment has not yet been adopted. Additionally, the EVM sidechain has undergone comprehensive testing by Bishop Fox.

The upcoming release of a new version of XChainBridge is expected to expand the functionalities of XRP Ledger, making it compatible with EVM. This update will introduce a new user interface and a Bridge SDK for developers, as well as a new explorer to facilitate efficient use of the EVM sidechain by users and developers.

XRP Ledger has also undergone several other updates aimed at improving usability, including the FixReducedOffersV1 and FixNFTokenRemint updates for servicing AMM and digital collectibles based on XRPL.

These updates highlight XRP Ledger's commitment to expanding its capabilities and enhancing interactions with other blockchain networks, opening new prospects for users and developers in the blockchain ecosystem.
