Airtel Nigeria has announced the construction of a 38-megawatt hyperscale data center in Lagos, which will be the largest in West Africa. This project is part of the company's infrastructure expansion strategy.

Airtel Nigeria plans to build a 38 megawatt hyperscale data center to meet the growing customer demand for AI and cloud services. In an interview, Hermanpreet Dhillon, the Chief Technology Officer of Airtel Nigeria, noted that the facility will be a crucial part of the company's investment plans.
Location and Competitive Advantages
The data center will be located in Eko Atlantic City, Lagos, where major companies like MTN Nigeria and Dangote Group are based. Dhillon emphasized that the center will not only meet customer requirements but also help the company better compete in the market.
Other Infrastructure Projects by Airtel
Airtel Nigeria also plans to build a subsea cable landing station in Port Harcourt to enhance the country’s digital infrastructure. This will improve access to cloud computing and strengthen connectivity with other regions. Dhillon also mentioned that the company is collaborating with Starlink and OneWeb to provide network facilities in remote areas.
The construction of the data center and other initiatives by Airtel Nigeria are aimed at improving services for customers and developing the digital infrastructure in Nigeria. These projects will contribute to the company’s growth and strengthen its market position.
