Avalanche Integrates with Stripe for Fiat-to-Crypto Onboarding

Apr 29, 2024

The Avalanche C-Chain network has partnered with payment company Stripe to allow verified Stripe users to purchase Avalanche (AVAX) and transfer it to their wallets. As per a blog post from Ava Labs on April 29, the integration includes eight Avalanche Web3 apps with the Stripe platform.

Developers of Avalanche apps now have the capability to integrate a customizable widget into their interfaces, enabling users to convert fiat to crypto using Stripe. The post mentions that eight apps, such as Avalanche Core, GoGoPool, Avvy, The Arena, Zeroone, Halliday, Pakt, DeFi Kingdoms, and Shrapnel, will be integrating this widget. The integration aims to address the "cold start problem" in Web3, where customers often lack sufficient funds in their wallets for transactions, with Stripe handling KYC, payments, fraud, and compliance to allow developers to focus on the app itself.

Users of the Core portfolio can now create Avalanche accounts using Google or Apple IDs and top up their accounts via bank transfers, debit, or credit cards through this integration. The head of consumer products at Ava Labs, Akash Gupta, expressed optimism that this collaboration will boost global crypto adoption by providing user-friendly solutions for seamless onboarding and wider acceptance of digital currencies in everyday transactions.

Moreover, Stripe announced on April 25 that it will support stablecoin payments using Circle's USDC on Solana, Ethereum, and Polygon, further expanding its crypto payment offerings.
