Amidst accusations of money laundering, Tornado Cash, an Ethereum-based crypto mixer, has garnered backing from Paul Grewal, the legal chief of Coinbase. Grewal has emphasized the importance of protecting Americans' right to privacy in this legal dispute.
On social media platform X, Grewal made public Coinbase's endorsement of the legal challenge aimed at safeguarding privacy rights. The plaintiffs in the Tornado Cash case have responded strongly to contentions put forth by the U.S. Treasury in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Grewal highlighted that the Treasury must prove its endorsement of an association with a common objective. He also noted a shift in the Treasury's argument throughout the case, suggesting a change in strategy.
