A survey conducted by Digital Currency Group (DCG) and The Harris Poll indicated that voter investment in crypto assets could play a significant role in the 2024 United States elections. Based on the responses of 1,201 registered voters in April, a majority of participants believed that cryptocurrencies offer a fairer financial system for individuals like themselves.

In swing states such as Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Montana, Pennsylvania, and Arizona, over 90% of respondents expressed their intention to vote in the upcoming elections. This suggests that candidates may need to address cryptocurrency-related issues to appeal to voters in these key states. Kristin Smith, CEO of the Blockchain Association, highlighted the importance of cryptocurrencies in shaping the electoral landscape for 2024 based on the survey results.

The survey also revealed that voters across different income levels and political affiliations held positive views on cryptocurrencies. However, it showed that 77% of voters in Ohio had a more negative perception of digital assets. As the Ohio Senate race between Democrat Sherrod Brown and Republican Bernie Moreno unfolds, the stance on cryptocurrencies of the candidates may influence voter decisions. Nevertheless, the election outcome could impact the balance of power in the Senate and the selection of committee leadership positions.

Public Citizen disclosed that three political action committees focusing on cryptocurrencies had amassed over $100 million to support candidates from various parties in the upcoming elections. With the US Presidency, the House of Representatives, and the Senate all up for contention in 2024, the issue of cryptocurrencies is expected to be a significant factor in shaping the political landscape.
