Developer Mythical Games has announced that the second season of the official mobile game NFL Rivals will launch on September 5, coinciding with the start of the real-world NFL season.
Success of the First Season
In its first season, NFL Rivals garnered over 5 million downloads and recorded more than 115 million games played. The upcoming season, titled 'Year 2,' will feature new game modes, unique pack drops, and additional ways for fans to engage with the game.
Partnership with Kansas City Chiefs
Mythical Games has also partnered with the Kansas City Chiefs, the reigning Super Bowl champions, making NFL Rivals the team’s official mobile game. This collaboration will include branding opportunities within Arrowhead Stadium and other joint initiatives.
Role of NFT and New Opportunities
In this iOS and Android football game, players take on the role of team general managers (GMs), calling plays and competing against other teams in the league. While the core of NFL Rivals is a traditional free-to-play game, it also integrates optional NFT player cards. Last August, the studio introduced an in-game marketplace to facilitate trading these digital collectibles.
The NFT marketplace has added “another dimension” to NFL Rivals, elevating the game to new heights. The forthcoming player-vs-player (PvP) mode is expected to significantly impact the mobile game’s future. Around 20% of players have upgraded their game-supplied wallets to Web3 wallets to interact with NFTs, which are minted on the Mythos Chain built on Polkadot. Daily transactions on the secondary marketplace have surged from a few hundred per day last year to over 8,000 per day ahead of the Year 2 launch.
The launch of NFL Rivals' second season promises enhanced game features, new modes, and a partnership with the Kansas City Chiefs, further deepening fan engagement and involvement.
