Cheating Cases in UTME 2025
During the 2025 UTME, there were 6,458 cases of technology-driven cheating reported. JAMB Registrar Professor Ishaq Oloyede noted that cheating has transitioned from traditional methods to technology-based approaches, involving biometric and identity fraud by candidates and some accredited CBT centers.
Formation of Special Committee
JAMB has inaugurated a 23-member special committee to investigate the cases of cheating. Oloyede emphasized that the committee will deal with extraordinary cases of image blending, falsification of albinism claims, and attempts to breach Local Area Networks of CBT centers.
UTME 2025 Exam Results
As a result of UTME 2025, out of 1,931,467 results released, 17,025 candidates scored 300 and above. This is a significant increase compared to 2024. JAMB also noted that 141 cases of regular exam misconduct have been referred to the disciplinary committee.
The identified instances of high-tech cheating necessitate urgent interventions to ensure the integrity of national examinations and to protect the country's reputation.
