Samson Mow, a vocal Bitcoin maximalist and CEO of JAN3, has initiated a petition on Change.org for the restoration of Satoshi's statue in Switzerland, which was vandalized.
Community Wants Satoshi's Statue Restored
Samson Mow addressed the BTC community, urging them to support the petition launched on Change.org in hopes of collecting 1,000 signatures in one day. So far, 775 people have signed it.
Satoshi's Statue Thrown into Lake
The petition concerns the first Satoshi statue erected in the Swiss city of Lugano last year during the Bitcoin Plan B Forum 2024. Recently, the statue went missing but was later discovered in Lake Ceresio, vandalized and thrown into the water.
Initiative to Restore the Statue
The text of the petition states that a group of Lugano residents has launched a public petition asking the city for logistical and security support to restore the artwork, which the artist Valentina Picozzi has offered to recreate at her own expense. She and her Satoshigallery collective are willing to cover the costs necessary to create another statue, requesting that it be displayed safely and protected from vandalism in the future.
The initiative to restore Satoshi's statue has gained support from both the local community and international cryptocurrency users, highlighting the importance of such a symbol for the Bitcoin community.
