Jun 6, 2024

Warning from Ripple's Chief Technology Officer

In a recent tweet, Ripple's Chief Technology Officer, David Schwartz, also known as @JoelKatz on the X social platform, cautioned the XRP community about a new phishing scam circulating on Elon Musk's X network.

Schwartz highlighted a tweet from a @3YearLetterman X user showcasing a fraudulent direct message received on X. The message falsely claimed to be from the X support team alleging copyright violations against the recipient's account, urging a response within 24 hours through a provided link. Schwartz emphasized that such messages are fake and the attached links lead to phishing sites aiming to gather login and personal details, potentially resulting in account suspension.

Additionally, an analysis of the sender's account details revealed over 210,000 followers joined X before Elon Musk's ownership.

Schwartz reiterated his warning not to engage with the link in such messages, emphasizing the risk of personal information exposure.

Ripple CTO Debunks Satoshi Nakamoto Speculations

Recently, Ripple's CTO Schwartz rejected persistent rumors linking him to the mysterious Bitcoin creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. Despite continuous denials from Schwartz, speculations within the crypto community persist, insistent that he is the elusive founder of Bitcoin.

Schwartz's attempt to dispel these claims included a selfie from the Consensus2024 event, where he stood next to an individual wearing a gold mask reminiscent of Satoshi Nakamoto's anonymity preference. This playful gesture was accompanied by the statement, 'Finally, absolute proof I am not Satoshi.'

Earlier, Schwartz had acknowledged the theory of him being Satoshi as 'plausible but untrue.'
