Ripple's Monthly XRP Sell-Off Reserves for April

Apr 2, 2024

A significant amount of 200 million XRP out of the 1 billion unlocked in April has been reserved by Ripple for its monthly sell-offs. The value of this reserve is approximately $120 million, with the XRP price currently trading below the $0.60 mark.

Ripple maintains around 39.90 billion tokens secured in escrows from the original distribution that have not been circulated. Every month, they unlock 1 billion XRP tokens and then lock a random amount for future release.

Finbold has been monitoring these unlocks and has noticed patterns that influence the asset's long-term value and short-term price fluctuations.

During this month's selling activity preparation, Ripple transferred the 200 million XRP from 'Ripple (22)' to 'Ripple (1)'. Both accounts are controlled by the company, with 'Ripple (22)' being the unlocked escrow address and 'Ripple (1)' serving as the treasury reserves.

The escrow process for April has concluded within the 'Ripple (22)' and 'Ripple (23)' accounts, as shown on XRPScan. 'Ripple (22)' first transferred the 200 million XRP for April to 'Ripple (1)' and then sent 300 million tokens to 'Ripple (12)' while re-locking the amount until August 2027.

Similarly, 'Ripple (23)' sent 100 million and 400 million to 'Ripple (12)' and 'Ripple (13)', respectively, both under escrows set to unlock by August 2027.

The XRP price has been influenced by Ripple's previous sell-offs, with significant fluctuations observed. Given the current trading price of $0.585, it is essential for investors to monitor Ripple's selling activities throughout April to gauge potential price movements.
