The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has moved the final decision deadline for the WisdomTree XRP ETF to October 24, 2025. This postponement also affects other similar fund applications.
Discussion of WisdomTree XRP ETF
Cboe BZX Exchange filed an application requesting a rule change that would allow it to list and trade shares of the WisdomTree XRP ETF. The SEC has postponed rulings on all pending spot XRP ETFs except for Franklin Templeton’s fund, indicating it needs more time to conduct thorough analysis.
Analysts' Predictions for ETF Approval
Bloomberg analysts Eric Balchunas and James Seyffart stated there is a 95% chance that the SEC will approve these XRP ETFs this year. They also noted that the SEC might approve all applications together, similar to what was done with Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs.
SEC Updates on Other Crypto Filings
The SEC also provided updates on additional crypto-related filings, requesting comments on Canary Capital’s staked TRX ETF, and extending its review of Canary’s PENGU ETF associated with meme coins. Furthermore, Canary filed for an 'American-made Crypto ETF' which will include cryptocurrencies linked to the U.S.
The extension of review periods and analysts' high expectations create optimism for XRP ETFs. The SEC continues to assess risks associated with new digital assets.
