- Wormhole Protocol and Its Capabilities
Securitize, a tokenization platform, announced its integration with the cross-chain communication protocol Wormhole. This step aims to enhance cross-chain asset transfer capabilities for assets tokenized through the Securitize platform.
Securitize and Wormhole Integration
Securitize stated that the integration with Wormhole will enable sub-second, sub-penny transactions, fostering a cross-chain real-world asset ecosystem. Securitize's CEO, Carlos Domingo, said, 'Tokenized securities need to thrive on public, permissionless blockchains to unlock the potential of blockchain technology.'
Growth of the Real-World Assets Market
The market for tokenized real-world assets (RWA) is estimated to be worth approximately $12 billion. According to RWA.xyz, this market segment is becoming one of the most popular in the cryptocurrency space, yet challenges in transferability among blockchain networks and wallets hinder its growth.
Wormhole Protocol and Its Capabilities
Wormhole specializes in sending and verifying messages, including token transfer data, among various blockchains. It connects nearly 30 networks and layer 2 scaling chains, including Ethereum, Avalanche, and Solana. The total value locked in RWA on Ethereum stands at about $9 billion as of September 20. Smoother cross-chain integration 'has set the stage for increased institutional adoption of tokenized assets,' stated Robinson Burkey, Wormhole Foundation’s CCO.
The integration of Securitize and Wormhole represents a significant step forward for the real-world assets tokenization market. This innovation will enhance transaction speed and cost-efficiency, encouraging further adoption and growth of this market.
