As per a report by The Defiant, Sei, a high-speed Layer 1 blockchain, revealed its V2 roadmap recently, resulting in a significant increase in the value of its native token.
The upcoming Sei V2 version will introduce a highly performant parallelized EVM that will kickstart its first phase by proposing governance changes. If approved, phase 2 will involve the deployment of V2 Alpha, enabling EVM-based smart contracts and integration of infrastructure with the network.
The team anticipates that phase two will be completed within days, emphasizing the importance of maintaining chain stability during the process.
Details regarding phase 3 are scarce at the moment, with the team mentioning that announcements will be made once V2 is stable, and crucial infrastructure components like RPCs, bridges, indexers, and multisigs are set up.
In early February, Sei updated its development network to support code deployment compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), thereby providing access to Ethereum's extensive dApps ecosystem. This move is aimed at empowering the developer community with additional tools and a wider range of programming languages.
Although the network upgrade was not aimed at end-users, it was intended for developers to test deploying their applications on the platform.
