**Starknet Foundation's $5 Million Grant Program for Blockchain Projects**

May 7, 2024

The Starknet Foundation, responsible for the Starknet (STRK) altcoin project, has introduced a grant program worth $5 million in USD Coin (USDC) to support projects under development on the network. This funding is geared towards aiding developers with blockchain projects in their final stages of development to facilitate their launch and enhance blockchain innovation.

Insights into the $5 Million Grant Program for the Altcoin Project

A new $5 million grant initiative has been launched to offer a final push for end-stage projects on Starknet, which is a ZK-rollup based Ethereum Layer-2 scaling solution. The program's objective is to provide $25,000 to at least 200 promising project teams to assist with their development.

Diego Oliva, the CEO of Starknet Foundation, mentioned that the grant program aims to address the fundamental challenges faced by current Starknet developers. Oliva emphasized the importance of supporting young teams in launching their projects without significant financial burdens. The grant program is set to benefit projects related to Starknet that already have a minimum viable product (MVP) or proof of concept, with the overarching goal of promoting blockchain innovation.

The ecosystem of Starknet is witnessing a growing number of developers, with an increase from 10,500 active developers per month in December 2020 to over 22,400 in December 2023, highlighting a more than 113% growth over three years. The introduction of the $5 million grant program is expected to attract even more developers to the ecosystem.

Focus on Blockchain-Based Gaming

In terms of the most exciting projects and protocols being developed on Starknet, Oliva emphasized the significance of blockchain-based gaming, which continues to be a major use case on the platform. Notable projects such as Realms, Influence, and Dojo are paving the way in fully on-chain gaming. The gaming sector is expanding rapidly on Starknet, with more teams adopting the Dojo standard. Blockchain-based games contribute significantly to decentralized application (dApp) activity, with over 2.2 million unique active wallet addresses engaging in these games on a daily basis.
