Tesla has started selling a new version of the Model 3 in China, offering an updated model with an increased driving range.
New Model 3 Variant Launched
Tesla has announced that it is taking orders for the updated Model 3, which now offers a driving range of about 830 km, significantly higher than the base version's 634 km. The new version is priced at 269,500 yuan (approximately $37,500), which is 14% above the standard model. The company notes that this variant offers greater range, improved performance, and efficiency. Deliveries are expected to start next month.
Competition in the EV Market
Competition in the premium electric vehicle segment in China is intensifying. Tesla faces increasing pressure from local competitors like Li Auto and Xiaomi, which are significantly increasing their sales figures. According to data from the China Passenger Car Association, Tesla's deliveries decreased recently, with 67,886 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles shipped in July, which is 8.4% less than July of the previous year and 5.2% lower compared to June.
Future of Tesla in China
Tesla continues to adjust its strategies to attract Chinese consumers. Analysts emphasize that the new Model 3 and Model Y variants are part of a tactic aimed at the premium segment, where the focus is on battery technology and digital features. Next month, the company plans to launch a six-seat SUV variant called Model Y L, which will offer more space compared to the current model.
With increasing local competition, Tesla is taking steps to restore its influence in the Chinese electric vehicle market. By adapting its offerings, the company hopes to attract customers focused on advanced technology and performance.
