**Witness Chain Attracts Over $5B in Delegated $ETH from EigenLayer Restakers**

May 2, 2024

A recent report by The Defiant reveals that Witness Chain, a proof system for decentralized physical infrastructure (DePIN) networks, has attracted more than $5 billion in delegated stake from EigenLayer restakers.

Witness Chain shared this milestone on April 29 through a tweet. The project is now secured by 1.82 million ETH, equivalent to $5.24 billion. Witness Chain currently stands as the third largest Actively Validated Service (AVS) on EigenLayer, following Eigen DA with $7.79 billion and Eoracle with $5.36 billion, as reported by Staking Rewards.

In the tweet, Witness Chain expressed gratitude towards its community for helping them surpass the $5 billion milestone in restaked ETH. The project appreciated the 16,677 stakers, 53 operators, and LRTs for joining the journey toward unifying DePIN economies.

Witness Chain is one of the nine AVSs operational on EigenLayer. EigenLayer, known as the pioneering Ethereum restaking protocol, permits Ethereum stakers to secure third-party AVSs to earn additional yield on top of staking rewards.

Ankr, a blockchain infrastructure provider, and Witness Chain node operator highlighted the significant role Witness Chain plays in unifying the siloed DePIN economy. Through Witness Chain, a shared economy of integrated physical assets becomes accessible, allowing the exchange of computing power, communication, energy, and storage resources among DePIN projects. Ankr explained that Witness Chain facilitates the communication between DePIN projects, enabling them to connect with each other and establish a complete supply chain of decentralized infrastructure.

Witness Chain also offers Watchtower nodes that operate as independent auditors for DePIN networks. The project provides various essential services like Proof of Diligence, Proof of Location, Proof of Bandwidth, and a DePIN Coordination Layer. Ankr emphasized that Witness Chain's architecture supports the development of new applications within the shared DePIN ecosystem. By allowing DePIN projects to share information like location and capacity, Watchtowers help create a connected ecosystem where separate pieces of infrastructure can interact, exchange value, increase demand, enhance reliability, and reduce redundancy.
