Analyst Colin Wu presented a digest of key events in the cryptocurrency world for the first week of 2024. He highlighted the main news concerning crypto projects and protocols.

Ethereum Layer 2 Scroll developers published a roadmap for the year, planning to reduce inter-network costs by 50%, support EIP 1559 transactions, precompile SHA256, add validators, implement decentralized proof, and ensure parallel execution of EVM.

Starknet also updated its roadmap, aiming to reduce transaction fees and introduce new types of transfers, allowing users to pay fees through STRK. They plan to use the EIP-4844 update to reduce Ethereum Layer 1 data availability costs and introduce a fee market.

Arbitrum Orbit Layer 3 added support for custom Gas tokens, enabling the use of ERC-20 tokens for gas payments. Binance Launchpool launched its 43rd project — Xai (XAI), with a distribution of 5% of the total issuance, amounting to 125 million XAI.

Manta Network announced the Into the Blue airdrop program with a draw of 50 million MANTA. Vitalik Buterin stated that all Layer 2 solutions should operate on the CCIP converter, and ENS should be publicly accessible.

On January 3, the daily trading volume of GMX V2 exceeded $400 million. Etherscan officially acquired Solscan.
